Product Introduction
The volute is the heart of a centrifugal pump. Its spiral flow passage converts the kinetic energy generated by the rotating impeller into pressure energy, delivering the head the pump is rated for.
On this casting the flanged connection on the left is the suction inlet, the large-diameter cylinder on the right is the discharge, and the internal cavity houses the impeller. External ribs reinforce the shell so it can carry pipe loads and internal pressure without distortion.
Volutes are cast with generous but controlled machining allowance on the flange faces and impeller cavity. We can supply rough castings for your own machining line, or finish-machined and hydrostatically tested parts.
